ORLANDO, Fla. -

A new app created to help parents track their trick-or-treating children is now available for downloads on iPhone and Android phones.

According to a news release, the app - called SecuraFone - can be downloaded to a child's iPhone or Android and can send a message alert to parents if the child gets too far from home.

The release states that in the United States every 40 seconds a child is reported missing, and 800,000 children are reported missing each year.

The app aims to help parents feel comfortable with allowing their children to trick-or-treat on Halloween. The app can also update parents every few minutes on the child's location, and also allows children to send parents an SOS text message with a press of a button in the event of an emergency.
