ORLANDO, Fla. -

Daniel Porter, the prime suspect in the disappearance of Central Florida firefighter Jerry Perdomo, has been arrested on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators said they originally arrested Porter on drug-related charges. Even though Perdomo has not been found, Maine State Police said that they are classifying the case as a "drug-related homicide"

Porter is being transferred to the Waldo County jail where police say he will now be booked and charged with the murder of Perdomo.

No other details have been released on Porter's arrest.

When asked if he had anything to say as he was arrested, Porter said "he didn't have the time".

Officials said the two men did know each other and how they did will be spelled out in court paperwork.

Porter could appear in front of a judge as early as Wednesday.

Police haven't said if his girlfriend, Cheyanne Nowak, is involved. Her mother said Nowak was "an innocent bystander".

They were with Porter at the home, which is located in Jackson, Maine on Tuesday.

Perdomo, 31, who works at Seminole County Fire Department Station 41 in Sanford, vanished Feb. 16 after driving from Florida to Maine.

Porter's father's house was recently searched for two days by state police, and potential evidence was taken from the home.

Witnesses said investigators removed carpet from the home and search dogs and dive teams were spotted at a nearby pond.

"We feel Perdomo was last seen at the house in Jackson," Maine State Police Lt. Christopher Coleman said.

Perdomo's wife, Tonya, said on Monday that he went to Maine to help a friend.

"Why he was here, we don't know.  We don't care why he was here," said Chris Lerch, Tonya Perdomo's brother.

Friends and family members of Perdomo have posted more than 1,500 flyers in Bangor, Maine, especially near the Walmart where security cameras recorded an unknown person exiting Perdomo's rental car.

Police impounded the car, along with two others -- Porter's Mitsubishi and a car he purchased while police were looking for him.
