Seminole County firefighters had to act quickly after a fire started in a bedroom closer Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters said they were called to a home at 1801 Hawkins Avenue in Sanford after a report of smoke coming from the room came in.
Firefighters said they got to the home and saw heavy black smoke coming from a bedroom window.
Firefighters were able to douse the blaze, but smoke and water damage left the home unlivable, officials said.
A family member told Local 6 the fire started in a closet of the bedroom.
The State Fire Marshal's office was investigating the cause and the American Red Cross was called to assist the family.
