Daytona Beach Police have released the identity of the man found dead behind a Marion County rest stop more than a month ago.

Officials said the body found behind Love's Travel Center on Interstate 75 near Ocala was Randall Byrd, a 45-year-old missing man from DeLand.

The body was found Jan. 17 in a walkway about 100 yards from the building by someone collecting cans in a wooded area behind Love's.

According to police, Byrd was reported missing on Dec. 17, but was last seen alive on Dec. 10 at the Desert Inn Hotel off of North Atlantic Avenue in Daytona Beach.

Byrd was a quadriplegic in constant need of medications, police said.

It is unknown how he ended up at the truck stop. The medical examiner has not yet determined his manner or cause of death.
