Lake County fire officials say a 40-acre brush fire sparked in Groveland at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Firefighters are working to contain the blaze, officials said. There have been no reports of injuries.
This is the second brush fire on Wednesday alone in Lake County, the first burning near State Road 46 and County Road 435 at the Mount Plymouth Golf Club in Sorrento.
The fire has been contained and no structures have been damaged. The fire is estimated to be approximately 30-40 acres and at one point, was within 50 to 100 feet of homes.
At least three houses were evacuated on Sandwich Place, and Local 6 News helicopter Sky 6 showed video of homeowners using garden hoses to saturate their scorched lawns.
Deputies have closed Sandwich Place and Sackamaxon Drive, and are also monitoring State Road 46 for visibility.
Meanwhile, officials in Port St. John contained another brush fire.
The 8 acre blaze was spotted about 12:30 p.m. in a wooded area near the intersection of Bridge Road and Port St. John Parkway.
No homes were evacuated but a portion of Grissom Parkway was closed between the St. John Parkway and Bridge Road.
Officials said the fire was in an area that was part of a prescribed burn two years ago and say that helped to contain the fire.
