'Orange Blossom Express' departs Orlando for the last time
Orange Blossom Express to move Friday
The two-week process of relocating the historic Church Street Station train began the final leg of its journey on Friday.
Crews prepared and moved the engine of the "Orange Blossom Express" at 3:45 a.m. It's the last car of the train, which will be displayed at the Florida Railroad Museum in Parrish, Fla.
The train has been displayed on Church Street for more than three decades. City officials decided to move the train to make room for the SunRail project, which was approved last year.
Although some residents say they are sad to see the iconic train go, the SunRail coming to Central Florida leaves much to look forward to.
“I think it's good,” said resident Vicki Cochran. “I want the SunRail to come through so I'm looking forward to that.”
The train will be housed less than two hours away at the Florida Railroad Museum just south of Tampa, which features dozens of historic locomotives and also offers train rides.
