ORLANDO, Fla. -

Air up your tires and check your brakes-Friday is Bike to Work Day in Orlando.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer is encouraging all citizens to join him in a ride to City Hall beginning at 8 a.m. Friday. The organized ride leaves from Dartmouth Park off Edgewater Drive in College Park.

Dyer has hosted a Bike to Work Day every year since 2003.

"Bicycling provides an alternative mode of transportation to get to work and provides an opportunity for us to take an active role in reducing our impact on the environment," he said.
Last year 190 cyclists participated.

This year registered participants will receive coffee or tea from Starbucks, bike tune-ups from Kyle’s Bike Shop and a one way bus pass back to College Park.

Bike to Work Day is part of National Bike Month. Sponsored by The League of American Bicyclists, Bike Month began in 1956 as a way to promote cycling and safe bicycling.
