COCOA, Fla. -

A Cocoa woman tells Local 6 she got quite a scare when she spotted a snake inside of her car while unloading her groceries.

Dawn Shook said she was in the parking lot of Sam's Club on Friday when she saw the yellow rat snake slither above her front wheel.

"Well, I was terrified," Shook said. "I didn't want it to drop out when I was dropping off my groceries or putting my groceries in. My heart was racing, I was just absolutely terrified."

She said she couldn't get the snake out, so she drove to a local car shop, where the mechanics couldn't get the snake out either.

The mechanics called Brevard County Animal Control for help, and officers were able to get the snake out from under the car's wheel well. The snake was taken to a nearby pond and freed.
