Oviedo police have arrested a 20-year-old who they say was having a sexual relationship with a child between the ages of 12 and 15.
Burton Yang has been charged with lewd or lascivious behavior, promoting a sexual performance by a child, lewd or lascivious battery on a victim between the ages of 12 and 15, possession of child pornography and contributing to the delinquency of a child.
Deputies said the victim's parents discovered their child was having a sexual relationship with Yang for 3 to 6 months and that Yang had given their child a smartphone to communicate with him.
The phone had been confiscated by school officials and detectives found sexually explicit text messages between the victim and Yang. The messages also revealed that on at least one occasion Yang picked up the victim from an area high school where the victim attended school, according to the release. They went to Yang’s residence where they had sex and then he took the victim back to school before classes were dismissed.
Deputies retrieved Yang’s cell phone and discovered additional sexually explicit messages between the two and several pornographic videos and images of the victim, according to deputies.
Yang was taken to the Seminole County Jail, where he was also charged with a violation of probation from an armed burglary arrest from an Orange County case.
