Culprit sought in DeLand goat thefts
Farmer says 2 goats stolen from tree, goat farm
A DeLand farmer is searching on Monday for the thieves he says stole two of his goats, along with a 20-gallon barrel of goat feed.
Carl Husfeld, 83, tells Local 6 someone jumped his fence at Husfeld's Tree and Goat Farm in DeLand and stole two of his goats, along with their feed.
"They probably tied their legs up and tied them all up, and lifted them over the fence," said Husfeld.
Husfeld says he bought his two white goats for about $50 a piece two years ago, and today they're not worth much more.
So, why would someone steal a goat?
"It's just two goats you know, unless they want to get started in raising goats ... I don't know," he said.
Husfeld is offering a $300 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest.
"I'm gonna get some posters made and put them at public places," he said.
Husfeld said he is going to buy 10 more goats and will move the sheds further onto his property so they're not as visible from the road.
