Orange County deputies arrested a man they say was conducting dog fights at his home Friday night.
Deputies said 25-year-old Jaqual Ford was arrested after one dog was found dead and another badly injured after a dog fight.
Deputies responded to 12 North Ohio Street for an active dog fight after an anonymous call was made to 911.
When they got to the home, deputies said a man started to run. Officials said they could hear the dogs crying and whimpering.
Authorities say the dogs sounded like they were in pain and helpless, and the sound was easily heard from the road.
As the deputy started to chase after the man running, he said he was confronted by five other people, authorities said.
Deputies said as the scene was getting settled, he saw six live dogs and one dead dog that appeared to have died as a result of dog fighting.
Another dog was laying next to the dead one and had injuries and gashes on its face, said deputies.
The deputies who arrived at the scene described the injuries as "bloody and horrid."
Deputies said Orange County Animal Services had to be called and confirmed the dog died as a result of dog fighting. All of the other animals were removed from the house.
Ford was booked into the Orange County Jail and charged with animal fighting and baiting animals.
