DeLAND, Fla. -

Volusia County deputies pulled a man over for not wearing his seatbelt on Friday, which ended up leading to his arrest for stealing extension cords from Lowe's.

Jeremiah Thomas, 31, has been charged with dealing in stolen property after deputies found 10 extension cords in the bed of the pickup truck with the ends cut off andbolt cutters inside the truck, according to the report.

Deputies said the driver of the car said that he was taking Thomas to the scrap yard with cords he found at a construction site. Deputies said they knew Thomas was lying because the cords still had plastic packaging and the cords were brand new, according to the report.

Thomas was arrested and booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach. The driver was released without being arrested after he said he didn't know the cords were stolen.
