Deputies said a homeless man was trying to make some money by renting out a home near Ormond Beach-but he didn't own it.

Eric Sisson, 27, was arrested Sunday and taken to Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach after he made $1,375 by renting out a vacant home without permission from the actual homeowner.

Sisson used a Craigslist ad to offer the space for rent. A 19-year-old woman responded to the ad and Sisson told her to go look at the home on her own, according to deputies. She then met Sisson and paid him two separate deposits in two days totaling $950 in cash.

She told police she became uncomfortable with the situation and backed out. Sisson gave her a worthless check for the money.

Sisson also scammed another woman, according to deputies. Both women met each other at the home and told police, who alerted the homeowner.

Sisson was charged with obtaining property by fraud, uttering a worthless check, three counts of unarmed burglary, and two counts of grand theft.
