Deputies: Man beat 2-year-old's face with hanger
Boy suffers fractured orbital bone; Man arrested
A 32-year-old Central Florida man was arrested on suspicion of beating a 2-year-old boy in the face with a clothes hanger, severely injuring one of the child's eyes.
David Lee Sinnett, of Bartow, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of aggravated child abuse.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, witnesses said Sinnett beat the boy because the child could not pronounce his sister's name correctly. The relationship between the Sinnett and the boy was not released.
According to doctors, the boy suffered a fractured orbital bone, which could cause permanent eye damage or loss of sight, the Sheriff's Office said.
Sinnett has an extensive criminal history and was convicted in 2005 of second-degree murder. He was released from prison in May 2010.
