Orange County deputies are searching for a man they say sexually battered a local college student.
Deputies said they responded to a call about an armed burglary at an apartment complex on Semoran Boulevard and Auvers Boulevard just before 5 a.m. on Friday. When deputies arrived, they discovered the victim had also been raped.
The victim suffered non life-threatening injuries as a result of the attack, deputies said. It's not clear which college the victim was a student at.
Deputies said the man is described as medium build. It's not known how the man got away and in which direction he went.
Sex Crimes detectives are investigating all possible leads, deputies said. Detectives also spent a considerable amount of time scouring a lake in the center of the complex, looking for clues. Residents of the apartment complex said they did not receive any notice from the complex's management and that when there is a break-in, they are usually notified by email.
