Deputies: Woman attacks ex-fiance's girlfriend in bed
Bartender arrested in Deltona on burglary, battery charges
A woman broke into her ex-fiance's Deltona home Monday morning and attacked his new girlfriend who was in bed with him, Volusia County sheriff's deputies said.
Kelly Custis, 27, a Lake Mary bartender, was arrested on charges of burglary with assault/battery.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Custis entered the home of her ex-fiance, David Lewis, a 31-year-old Seminole County firefighter, around 5:30 a.m. and went into his bedroom.
Lewis said Custis turned on the lights and he saw her standing in the doorway, according to deputies, who added that Custis then attacked his girlfriend lying in bed with him.
Deputies said the girlfriend had scratches on her chest, arm and face and clumps of her hair were found on the floor. The girlfriend said Custis also tried to strangle her, a sheriff's report said.
Lewis said he and Custis broke up in August and she no longer lives there or had any belongings in the home. He said he changed the locks on the door after the split, but his roommate may have left the door unlocked, deputies said.
Custis was released later Monday from the Volusia County Jail on her own recognizance.
