FROSTPROOF, Fla. -

A Central Florida man was shot over the weekend while driving his truck after his dog kicked a gun onto the floorboard, police said.

Gregory Dale Lanier, 35, of Frostproof, was shot in the leg on Saturday while driving on State Road 17.

According to a police report, the dog knocked the .38-caliber pistol on the floor of the truck and it discharged.

Lanier told police that he didn't think the gun was loaded.

Lanier suffered minor injuries.

The shooting was ruled accidental.
