Dogs race to predict Super Bowl
"Super Dog Match Exhibition Race" being held Wednesday night
Two of the top greyhound racing dogs are set to square off Wednesday evening in a race aiming to predict who will win the upcoming Super Bowl.
The “Super Dog Match Exhibition Race,” featuring two racing dogs at Daytona Beach Kennel Club & Poker Room in a one-on-one contest, is scheduled to begin at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.
One greyhound, “Ever So Lucky 49ers,” will race as No. 7, quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s number, and wear a warm-up blanket of gold and red, the colors of the San Francisco 49ers.
The other greyhound, “SB Harper Ravens,” will run as No. 5, for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, and wear a blanket with the Ravens’ purple and black.
This is the second year the entertainment venue has hosted an exhibition race prior to the big game. In 2011, the dog “Kiowa Packers” won the race against “Kiowa Steelers,” correctly predicting the outcome.
“We had a great response when we held the race in 2011, and people asked about it last year, so we thought it would be great to bring it back,” said Mike Stringer, director of operations.
A trophy presentation will immediately follow the race.
