Driver finds body along Lake County road
Florida Highway Patrol investigates possible hit-and-run crash
A driver discovered a body on the side of a Lake County road Thursday morning after a fatal hit-and-run crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The body of 33-year-old Wilfredo Feliciano Rodriguez, of Davenport, was found around 7:20 a.m. near the northbound lanes of U.S. 192 at Town Center Boulevard, northwest of the Four Corners area.
According to the FHP, Rodriguez was walking in an unknown direction sometime around 2:30 a.m. when he was struck by a gray or silver vehicle. The driver then took off, troopers said.
Troopers said the driver of a van noticed the body hours later and went to a nearby fire station to report the discovery. He then returned to the scene to ensure law enforcement officials arrived, according to troopers.
A Publix and a Denny's are located in the area, and an apartment complex is located across the heavily-traveled highway.
Anyone with information about the crash is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
