EDGEWATER, Fla. -

An Edgewater man has been arrested on charges of running an unlicensed body piercing business that led to customers developing staph infections, according to deputies.

Jason Stone, 43, the owner of Stoney’s Ink Slab Tattoo Parlor, was investigated by deputies after complaints from a woman, who got a tattoo, and her 13-year-old daughter, who got a belly-button piercing, both ended up at the hospital with staph infections. The woman told deputies she’s still being treated and was told by her doctor that she will have life-long problems from the infection.

Another complaint from back in 2006 alleged that Stone was allowing a 10-year-old boy to tattoo his clients, according to the release.

Stone is also facing drug charges after deputies found methamphetamine, heroin, alprazolam and hydrocodone at the business.

Stone will be booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach on Friday. His bond has been set at $30,000.
