ORLANDO, Fla. -

The League of Women Voters and several nursing organizations are working together this summer in hope of getting a quarter of a million registered nurses to the polls this election year.

In partnership with four nurse organizations, the League has set up sites around Central Florida where nurses can pick up the forms they need in order to register to vote.

Those completed forms will then need to be turned into the local Supervisor of Elections office.

Voter registration forms will be available this week at the following locations:

• Florida Nurses Association, 1235 E. Concord St., Orlando

• University of Central Florida, College of Nursing, 12201 Research Parkway, 3rd Floor, Orlando

•Jackson & Joyce Dentistry, 1910 SE 18 Ave., Ocala

• Rasmussen College of Nursing, 2100 SW 22 Place, Ocala

• Haile Village Bistro, 5323 SW 91 Terrace, Gainesville

The organizations involved in the July registration drive include "Florida Nurses: We Care, We Vote", a non-partisan effort to engage nurses in the 2012 elections, the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Florida Network of Nurse Practitioners, the Florida Gerontological Nurses Association and the Florida Student Nurses Association.

Voter registration deadline for the August 14 primary election is one week away.
