ORLANDO, Fla. -

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer is asking local schools and businesses to hold a moment of silence Friday morning in honor of the 20 children and 6 school workers who were killed in the Connecticut school shooting one week ago today.

Dyer proclaimed Friday as a day of mourning in the city of Orlando to honor the victims of the Newtown shooting.

Dyer has also changed the colors of the Lake Eola fountain to green and white, the colors of Sandy Hook Elementary School, from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday.

The Amway Center also changed the colors to show support for the school.
