Eustis police: Man on bicycle charged with 4th DUI
Cops say man claimed he was walking his bike, not riding it
Police in Eustis arrested a man on suspicion of driving under the influence -- on his bicycle -- marking his fourth DUI arrest.
Eustis police say they received a call over the weekend from the Crazy Gators reporting that Jorge "Jungle" Calles refused to leave the restaurant.
An officer stopped Calles, 42, at a traffic light at North Bay Street and Gottsche Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Saturday for not having a headlight on his bicycle.
Police said as they stopped Calles, he was swaying while trying to stand and had the smell of alcohol on his breath. Police tried to administer sobriety tests, but according to a police report, Calles refused several of them.
Calles told police they didn't see him riding his bike across the street, insisting that he walked it across the street.
Calles was also charged with refusing to submit to a breath test after he was taken to Lake County Jail on $10,250 bond.
The arrest affidavit states that he has three prior DUI convictions: in 1997, 1998 and 2008.
