Explosion destroys Volusia County home

Ruptured gas line may have caused blast

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -

An explosion -- felt four blocks away -- destroyed a Volusia County home overnight, blowing a portion of the home into the back yard.

No one was seriously injured in the explosion, which occurred at 1284 Fern Way Drive in Ormond Beach.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blast, which may be related to a ruptured gas line.

It appeared that a roof was being installed at the house, but it's not known if that's what led to the blast.
