FAMU has jump in law students passing bar exam
Florida A&M University is getting some good news about its law school.
The university reported on Tuesday that students at its Orlando law school exceeded the state average this year in passing the exam needed to get a law license.
The American Bar Association earlier this year raised questions on whether FAMU was doing enough to prepare students.
FAMU reported that in February nearly 83 percent of first-time applicants passed the bar exam.
It marked the first time since the school was re-established in 2002 that FAMU exceeded the statewide average which was roughly 80 percent. The February results were nearly a 20 percent increase from the previous bar exam.
A total of 19 out of 23 FAMU students passed the exam.
