An 18-year-old girl was arrested after troopers say she hit a Florida Highway Patrol trooper and drove away, while driving drunk.
Gina Garcia-Ronquillo, 18, has been charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash and fleeing and eluding after the early Sunday morning incident.
FHP said trooper Josh Evans was working a hit-and-run crash scene on University Boulevard when Garcia-Ronquillo hit the trooper and drove away, refusing to stop until the trooper performed a pursuit tactic, forcing her vehicle to stop.
When Garcia-Ronquillo was removed from the vehicle, she told the trooper she didn't do anything wrong and said the car behind her kept beeping its horn and that she felt like she couldn't, according to the report.
While talking to Garcia-Ronquillo, the trooper said he noticed she appeared to be under the influence. Garcia-Ronquillo told the trooper she had been at the University of Central Florida watching a One Direction movie with her friends and had only drank orange juice, the report states.
She then told the officer that she was "a good person, a Christian, she was in college and had a good GPA," according to report. FHP said she then told them they should be "out catching real criminals."
Evans was treated for a leg injury but was released from the hospital on Monday morning.
She was taken to the Orange County Jail after failing the sobriety field tests. Her blood alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit, according to FHP.
