Two firefighters suffered minor injuries early Monday while battling a blaze in Deltona.

The fire broke out around 1 a.m. at a house in the 500 block of Nardello Drive.

According to fire officials, five people were inside the home and one of them was awakened to the smell of smoke.  All five were able to safely leave the house.

Fire officials said it appears the blaze began in the attic above the garage and spread.

One firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and another was hit by the garage door.  They were both treated at the scene and released.

The Red Cross is assisting the family, and the state fire marshal will investigate what caused the fire.
