Father, son arrested in American Legion WWI rifle burglaries
Police say they got a tip that duo bragged about burglary
Dayonta Beach police have arrested a father and son in connection to a robbery at an American Legion last month, resulting in several vintage guns being stolen.
Investigators arrested John Joseph Nuzzi, III, 22, on Wednesday in Port Orange. His father, John Nuzzi, 44, had already been arrested Feb. 1 for loitering and prowling and possession of burglary tools.
Deputies said they received a tip about the father and son bragging on the street about stealing five World War I 1917 Military Surplus Infield 301 rifles and a cash register from the American Legion Post 361 in South Daytona.
Deputies searched Nuzzi III's residence on Charles Street and found three of the five rifles stolen. The others were believed to be sold for drugs, deputies said.
The father and son are both charged with grand theft and armed burglary. Additional burglary charges from South Daytona are pending.
