Fire displaces residents at Orange County condo complex
Fire officials respond to fires in Orange, Brevard counties
A fire that ignited at an Orange County condominium complex has displaced two units of residents, according to fire officials.
The fire ignited at the complex on Dorscher and Balboa Drive just before 3:30 p.m. All residents in three units were evacuated, according to fire officials, and two units were severely damaged. The residents won't be able to return to their homes, officials said. Another unit was also damaged, but not destroyed, officials said.
In all, 5 adults and 2 children were affected by the fire and American Red Cross will assist all three families with temporary housing.
The State Fire Marshal will lead the investigation in determining the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, another fire ignited at a home in Brevard County an hour later. Brevard County Fire rescue says the unoccupied home on Old Dixie Highway in Mims ignited just after 4:30 p.m.
Fire Rescue says the home has heavy brush surrounding it and urges traffic on US 1 near Otter Creek Lane to watch for emergency vehicles.
No other homes are endangered.
