ORLANDO, Fla. -

A hotel near Universal Orlando was evacuated early Friday morning because of a fire, forcing hundreds of guests out of the building.

The Holiday Inn on South Kirkman Road was evacuated around 2 a.m. after a guest on the second floor awakened and noticed the smell of smoke.

Firefighters rushed 700 people out of the building and later determined that some mulch somehow caught fire outside of the hotel.

Smoke wafted into the hotel, but no one was injured.

Guests were later allowed to return to their rooms.
