WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. -

A Seminole County firefighter arrested on allegations that he choked and threatened his girlfriend will appear in court on Monday.

Dean Erlandson, 24, was being held without bond in the Seminole County Jail on charges of battery and aggravated assault, authorities said.

According to a Winter Springs police report, Erlandson's girlfriend said he saw text messages on her phone from her ex-boyfriend and threatened to kill her.

Seminole County Fire Rescue confirmed that Erlandson works for the department and still has his job but said officials will pay attention to the investigation to determine how to proceed.

In an unrelated case, Erlandson was arrested in August by Orlando police and charged with felony battery. That case is ongoing, authorities said.
