Firefighters from multiple agencies joined forces to battle two brush fires in southern Volusia County on Saturday.

Officials said a second fire was reported at 3:53 p.m. near Boy Scout Camp and Swamp Deer roads northeast of Osteen.

Officials said 37 firefighters responded with trucks, four tractors and a helicopter.

Firefighters said they were able to protect a dozen homes that were threatened on Swamp Deer Road. A pole barn on Boy Scout Camp Road was destroyed. This fire is estimated at 150 acres and is 50 percent contained.
