Broward County has an all-woman school board for the first time in its county history.
Abby Freedman and Rosalind Osgood won their run-off elections last week and will join six female incumbents on the board Nov. 20.
The South Florida SunSentinel reports Broward is the only district in the nation's 10 largest to have only women serving on the board. Broward is the 6th largest school district in the nation.
The newspaper reports 10 male candidates sought positions on the school board but only two made it to run off races against Osgood and Freedman who were elected onto the board.
Board members say  they don't expect gender to play a significant role in decision-making.
