Governor Rick Scott announced Monday Florida's unemployment rate dropped to 7.8 percent in January. For the first time in five years,
Florida's jobless rate has fallen below the national average in five years.
The rate is slightly down compared to December at 7.9 percent and 1.4 percent lower than a year-ago.
The state added 15,400 jobs from December to January.
The trade, transportation and utility industries -- some 35,500 --
gained the most jobs in Florida.
The Department of Economic Opportunity reported Monday that 740,000 Floridians remained jobless.
