APOPKA, Fla. -

Two people were injured early Friday after a car crashed into a gas station pump in Apopka, sparking a fire.

The crash happened around midnight at a RaceTrac gas station near the intersection of State Road 436 and Line Drive.

According to witnesses, the driver of a maroon sedan came speeding into the parking lot when she lost control and crashed into the pump.  The crash caused both the pump and car to catch fire.

After hearing the crash, a clerk ran outside and tried to put out the fire using a fire extinguisher.  Meanwhile, the driver pulled her passenger out of the car in an attempt to escape the flames.

The passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.  The driver suffered minor injuries.

Witnesses said the driver, who had minor injuries, was arrested on DUI charges after failing a field sobriety test.

All 10 pumps at the gas station were closed Friday morning as repairs were made to the crash site.
