George Zimmerman's mother gives first TV interview
Gladys Zimmerman apologizes to family of Trayvon Martin
The mother of George Zimmerman gave her first television Monday.
Gladys Zimmerman spoke with CNN's Piers Morgan. She told him that she was very sad when she learned that her son had shot and killed Trayvon Martin back in February.
"I felt that the world had turned upside down, it was like a nightmare, couldn't believe what happened," she said.
During the interview, Zimmerman apologized to Martin's family.
She also believes her son is innocent saying, "the media had played a big role against my son. They had portrayed him in a bad, bad picture. But there is justice in America and I believe in justice."
Local 6 has also learned that George Zimmerman wants his trial to be delayed so his attorney can have more time to review evidence and take depositions.
George Zimmerman's attorney, former Local 6 legal analyst Mark O'Mara, is asking for two new hearings next week to try and get Martin's school records, tweets and Facebook posts.
