TAMPA, Fla. -

A mother manatee was found dead in the water off Tampa's Bayshore Boulevard.

Her two calves washed ashore Tuesday along the flooded road which runs along Tampa Bay.

Members of the Tampa Police Marine Patrol called Lowry Park Zoo and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to help with the rescue of the baby manatees. Their mother was floating on her back in the water.

No further details were immediately available.

Heavy rain from Tropical Storm Debby caused flooding across parts of the Tampa Bay area.
