On May 28, residents from the Lake Eola Heights Neighborhood began a manhunt after one of their neighbors was stabbed.
Dave Grobleski said his neighbor was just drinking coffee around 5:45 a.m. when the incident happened.
According to the police report, the victim heard a strange man calling another neighbor's cat. When the cat didn't come, he told police the suspect came into his neighbor's front yard, picked up the cat and hit it.
He said he confronted the suspect and pushed him, then the suspect stabbed him in the lower left side and under the left armpit.
The victim told police the suspect continued to waive a knife yelling "I will kill you."
He said he punched the suspect several times until he realized he had been stabbed. He said he walked back to his house and the suspect took off.
"He almost died," Grobleski said.
After the attack, Grobleski said he turned to Twitter and Facebook to help find the suspect.
He said about three years ago he created a Twitter account by linking "real time" police dispatch calls from the neighborhood to the Lake Eola Heights Twitter page.
Neighbors can also post tweets on the page regarding suspicious activity or other crime alerts.
He said the sites haven't been used in a proactive way -- until now.
After the attack, a neighbor posted the suspect's description on the neighborhood's Facebook page.
Another neighbor, Rick Stout, said he also went door to door to notify homeowners. Then he decided to get a group of neighbors together to conduct a search.
He said they planned to go to nearby parks to look for the suspect because they believed he was homeless.
Last Wednesday, a friend of one of the neighbor's spotted a man at Festival Way Park who matched the description of the suspect.
Police arrested Colin Mann, 47, for attempted first degree murder with a weapon and for carrying a concealed weapon.
Police said Mann had a bruise under his left eye and they found a 4-5 inch knife in his front right pocket.
They also said the victim identified Mann in a photo lineup.
Grobleski said after the incident, he decided to sort the police dispatch calls for every neighborhood in Orlando and post them on Twitter.

"It only makes sense to widen this, to give more people the power to come together and solve problems themselves," Grobleski said.
Grobleski said it's important to remember to call police first. He said this is just another tool.
This weekend, Grobleski said they are also launching a phone service for their neighborhood.
