JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police say a street sweeper was crushed to death in Jacksonville's Regency Square Mall Friday morning while trying to unclog his machine.

According to WJXT-TV a passerby found the man's body underneath the machines Friday morning just before 9 a.m.

"It appears that the hopper that collects the debris possibly fell on the employee," JSO Lt. Mike Beckmann told WJXT-TV.

A second work crew noticed the street sweeper was no longer behind him, went to investigate and found his coworker had been crushed.

Police identify the victim as a man in his 30s who had worked for six years for a company contracted by the mall to clean the grounds.
