Man dies on porch after seeking help; Homicide investigation launched

ORLANDO, Fla. -

Deputies have launched a homicide investigation after a man covered in blood walked to an Orlando home to get some help but collapsed and died on the porch, authorities said.

A resident in the 5000 block of Vanguard Street near International Drive and West Oak Ridge Road called 911 around 7 a.m. Friday after the man, identified as Bruce Bridges, 52, knocked on his door, Orange County deputies said.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Bridges had multiple wounds and was bleeding heavily.

It's not known how he was injured.

Detectives are searching of a person of interest Friday, described as a black female around 20-30-years-old. The woman was last seen driving a purple PT Cruiser with the license plate reading 428PDX.

The death marks the first homicide in Orange County in 2012.
