Man kidnapped teen, tied her up inside Winter Garden home, deputies say
Man's girlfriend interrupts attack of teen thinking boyfriend was cheating
A man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a teen at knifepoint in Winter Garden and tying her up inside a home.
John Kersey was arrested Monday after the 18-year-old woman freed herself and ran for help.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Kersey asked the victim, who was walking home from a bus stop along Nieves Drive, if she wanted to make $10 by helping him do chores in his shed. The teen then agreed and while she was moving some boxes, Kersey grabbed her and held her at knifepoint, according to the report.
Deputies said Kersey tied up the victim, asked if she was a virgin and if she wanted to stay one. The victim was able to run away after Kersey's live-in girlfriend walked in thinking Kersey was cheating on her and the victim told her Kersey had attacked her.
Kersey's girlfriend kicked him out and the victim ran off to tell her father, deputies said.
Kersey was arrested after running from deputies. He will be taken to jail once he's released from the hospital. Deputies said they believe Kersey was under the influence of narcotics.
