Man killed in hunting accident
63-year-old was hunting hogs with youth
A Cedar Key man has been killed in a hunting accident.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission investigators said John Freddrick Alford, 63, was hunting hogs with a young person on private property in Rosewood.
At some point during the Saturday hunt, the pair separated. The young person saw several hogs crossing a narrow road and shot one with a 16-gauge shotgun loaded with buckshot, officials said.
Alford was about 200 feet from the shooter, but was hit by buckshot, officials said.
He was pronounced dead at a Gainesville hospital.
Wildlife officials are investigating the shooting.
No other details were released and authorities did not reveal the youth's age.
