Man ready to sue after police use photo of his truck
Police release picture of man's truck involed in child luring case
Local 6 started asking questions after a Seminole County man came forward and said police released a photo of his truck.
Altamonte Springs police called it a "similar" truck to the one a man is driving to lure children.
The owner of a local pressure washing business who didn't want to be identified told us the photo showed one of his employee's houses in the background.
His attorney, Lee Barrett, said the police department was very irresponsible.
"He's gotten calls from neighbors wanting to know what he has to do with a child abduction case. They're terrified that he will be out working tomorrow and someone's going to take a shot at him," Barrett said.
Barrett said the man's employees are now refusing to drive these truck at work. He said his client might pursue a lawsuit.
Local 6 called the Altamonte Springs Police Department to ask about the photo.
At first the spokesperson said they didn't think there was anything wrong with it because they made sure not to show his license plate or any company logos.
However, later in the night the spokesperson called back and asked us to stop showing the photo in our newscasts. He said they didn't mean to upset the owner. They were just trying to help find the driver trying to lure children.
Barrett said his client would have provided photos of the truck if police would have asked.
"Obviously everyone wants this person responsible caught. My client would do anything to help in that regard but it was the way his truck was portrayed that's causing problems," Barrett said.
Police said this is the third time in four days that a man in this truck has approached a teen walking home from school in Altamonte Springs. However, this time police said there was another man in the truck with him.
The latest incident happened Monday afternoon at Bunnell Road and Pearl Lake Causeway which is near Semoran and 434.
The 14 year old told police when they approached her she ran home and called police.
Police said the man involved in all three cases is in his 30s or 40s with tan skin, dark hair and no facial hair.
The other man in the truck is described as "chubby", around the same age, with white hair.
If you have any information call police.
