DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

A man was shot in the head during a gunfight between occupants of two cars in Daytona Beach, police said.

Police said a caller reported that shots were fired from the cars just after noon Tuesday on the west side of the city.

Police said the man who was shot was taken to Halifax Hospital in serious condition.

Daytona Beach police, including Chief Mike Chitwood, spotted the other vehicle a short time later and a pursuit ensued.  Stop Sticks were used to halt the vehicle, and three people were taken into custody after trying to run away, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
