Man steals phones from Winter Park apartment, demands sex acts, cops say
Man charged with attempted sex battery, burglary
Orange County deputies have arrested a man believed to be a Full Sail student who they say broke into an apartment, stole the family's cellphones and demanded sex acts from the woman sleeping inside.
Deputies said Alix Chery, 22, who is also a resident in the Berkshire Apartment complex, opened the sliding glass doors into the apartment between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Thursday and demanded the woman inside sleeping on the couch to commit sex acts as her husband and two children slept in another bedroom.
When she refused, deputies said Chery threatened to shoot her. He also took at least one cellphone from the apartment, according to the report.
Deputies believe he may have broken into another woman's home a few hours later. Deputies said in that case, the woman was also asleep when she heard a man in her bedroom. The man then said he made a comment about taking off her shirt but didn't touch the woman, according to the report.
Deputies said they found Chery at his apartment where he said he only intended to steal phones but when he went into the apartments and saw the women sleeping, he became sexually aroused, the report states.
He has been charged with attempted sexual battery with force, burglary of occupied dwelling and grand theft less than $100. It's not clear if he has a prior criminal record.
