Orange County Sheriff's deputies say they believe they have found the remains of a Winter Garden man who vanished after leaving for a fishing trip on Wednesday.
According to his family, Frank Wright, 65, was at his second home, on the corner of W. Keene Road and McQueen Road in Orange County early Wednesday morning.
His family tells Local 6 he was unloading the previous days catch before going on a fishing trip with his nephew.
When his nephew showed up to meet him at the home, Wright, his 2006 gray Ford pickup truck, his boat and trailer were all gone.
"The surroundings behind it, the way this place was found, it's unexplainable, because it's not his character," said his daughter, Angelia Anthony.
The gate to the garage was open, the hat he never left home without was on the ground.
Inside the garage, his family says, the freezer door was open, so was the cooler with the fish still inside.
A unrelated report of a fire was dispatched to the OCFD and OCSO Thursday morning at 4:40 a.m.
At the home in the 7400 block of Radiant Circle, OCFR personnel arrived to put out the fire. The house, garage, and a Honda Accord in the garage were fully engulfed in flames.
As an investigation began at the home, State Fire Marshals discovered a body in the vehicle, which was in the garage.
As the case moved forward Friday, a medical examiner was able to preliminarily identify the remains discovered in the Accord as those of Wright. Next of kin have been notified of this information as investigators await a final report from the medical examiner's office.
Investigators said the Accord was stolen from the Carver Shores area before being discovered in the burning home.
Members of Wright's church are passing out flyers, hoping someone will come forward with information.
"Let us know something...just let us know something about him," said his wife, Rosa Wright.
Anyone with information is asked to call 407-254-7000 or 407 836-HELP.
