Marion County man eats marijuana at traffic stop, deputies say
Authorities say man may have been driving with missing juvenile
A man was arrested on Monday after a deputy caught him chewing marijuana during a traffic stop, authorities say.
Willie Bryant, 41, of Ocala has been charged with drug possession and tampering with evidence.
Authorities said they received information that Bryant may have been driving a white Cadillac with a missing female juvenile from Gainesville.
The stop was made in the area of SW 99th Street and State Road 200.
The deputy said he saw the driver place something in his mouth as he exited the vehicle. The deputy said he asked Bryant where the missing juvenile was and he mumbled the words, "At a gas station on highway 200."
The deputy said he noticed that Bryant was chewing and trying to swallow something, so he handcuffed Bryant and commanded that he spit out the substance. According to authorities, Bryant then spit out some green substance on the trunk lid of the vehicle, which appeared to be marijuana. The deputy then field tested the green substance. Authorities said it tested positive for marijuana.
