Melbourne man charged in Facebook threat against Barack Obama
Christopher Castillo was arrested in November
A federal grand jury has brought charges against a Melbourne man accused of making threats against President Barack Obama on Facebook.
The indictment says Christopher Castillo “knowingly and willfully” made a threat to kill or harm the president “by writing a post on Facebook stating, ‘That’s the last straw, if he gets re-elected I’m going to hunt him down and kill him (and) watch the life disappear from his eyes.’ ”
Castillo was arrested in November and has since been released from custody pending a trial.
Castillo made further threats to the president in an interview with investigators, calling the president a terrorist.
The investigation came after a “concerned citizen” reported the alleged Facebook activity to officials, court documents say.
