Missing 83-year-old woman found safe

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -

New Smyrna Beach police have found an 83-year-old woman who they say has Alzheimer's disease and left her home to drive to a family member's for Thanksgiving.

Police said Carla Floyd Doerr left her home driving a white Toyota Highlander SUV at approximately 6:15 a.m.

Doerr suffers from Alzheimer’s and thought Wednesday was Thanksgiving, according to police. She is believed to be headed to a family member’s home in Winter Park. 

Police said they found Doerr Wednesday afternoon.
