The mother of a missing man has confirmed that remains found months ago are those of her son, Christopher George.
Bones were found in February in Lake Carter in Apopka, along with George's wallet and cellphone, but the remains were not positively identified until Thursday.
James Hataway was one of the last people to see George alive, Apopka police said in 2009, and he is a suspect in George's disappearance. He is also a suspect in the disappearance of Tracy Ocasio in May 2009.
Hataway was sentenced to life in prison earlier this year after being convicted of attempted murder.
George's mother, Rachael George, announced that she had received notification from the Apopka Police Department about the remains being identified as her son.
Apopka police said the inevstigation is ongoing and they are not any closer to charging Hataway at this time.
A memorial for Christopher George will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the River of Life Church on Sand Lake Road in Orlando.
